Can overfeeding supplements cause harm to horses?

It has been shown that improper balances, due to over-feeding minerals and vitamins, may cause improper growth, gastric ulcers, colic, reduced growth rate, anemia and decreased function of the liver, lungs and GI tract. Overfeeding selected trace minerals and/or vitamins in these supplements can cause tie-ups in other minerals that are necessary for production and performance of systems in the horse’s body. It is difficult for a horse to consume sufficient roughage to meet nutritional requirements; therefore, supplements are required to meet the horse's dietary needs. When comparing Loomix® Specialty products to other supplements, it's important to understand that our products have all been formulated by leading equine nutritionists. The levels of trace minerals, vitamins, amino acids and other essential nutrients and feeding suggestions have been designed to meet the horse's optimum needs. Proper balance of all trace minerals and vitamins are essential for optimum performance.

Why aren’t there specific feeding instructions for the size, type, and sex of animal I am feeding products that contain Cell-rate®?

All livestock animals, big or small, male or female, have requirements for nucleotides. This is the basis for all the products formulated with Cell-rate®. Research shows, nucleotides are the basis for all cell division and processes in the animal’s body. Each of our products have specific feeding instructions based on nucleotide needs of livestock animals and this information can be located in the products and store link of our website.

Why is supplementing important?

Supplementing your horse’s diet is important because research shows that it is difficult for horses to consume enough roughages or hay to meet all nutritional requirements. Equine nutritionists agree that the supplementation of trace minerals, vitamins, and amino acids are needed in situations where the levels of nutrients in roughages and grains tend to vary. These grains and roughages can vary due to soil conditions, harvesting, storage, and environment where each portion is grown. Supplementing these essential nutrients helps to ensure the ration meets daily nutritional requirements.

1In young horses,

iThe nutrients provided to the young growing horse must be adequate to promote proper growth and development to ensure structural soundness at maturity. The most critical concept in feeding young horses is to feed a balanced diet, with proper amounts of essential nutrients. Nutritional imbalances can lead to a variety of developmental diseases in young horses.

1In performance horses,

iThe increased amount of energy production and utilization during exercise increases the performance horse's requirement for vitamins A, E, B1, selenium and folic acid. Vitamins, trace minerals, and amino acids that are beneficial to the equine athlete should be provided by a properly balanced vitamin supplement.

What is Necessity?

All Necessity products are all-in-one complete daily supplements with 21 vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that can be top dressed to your horse’s base ration. Necessity comes in 3 different forms; Necessity, Necessity with glucosamine, and Necessity with glucosamine and MSM to support joint function and mobility. Necessity with glucosamine has added glucosamine for joint health and support. Necessity with glucosamine and MSM has added glucosamine for joint support and health, and MSM for inflammation and aid in the repair of damaged tissue, cartilage and tendons.

How do you feed Necessity?

All Necessity products can be added to your horse’s current diet. Two ounces is the recommended feeding dosage if it is in the liquid form. The Dry form daily dosage is 2 scoops per day. All Necessity products have a loading dose for 3 days initially which is 4 ounces liquid, 4 scoops dry. If using the liquid, one depression of the pump equals one ounce. Necessity consists of a natural cherry flavor that is highly palatable. If a horse is rather finicky, we recommend starting the horse with smaller amounts and gradually increasing dosage until the recommended daily amount is reached. For instance, split the daily dosage in half and feed 1 oz. in the morning and 1 oz. at night.

How long will it be before I see results?

Owners have reported improvements within the first week on Necessity. Usually, noticeable results are seen within two to three weeks. Results will vary depending on the age, training schedule, previous feed program and the horse’s general condition. Typically, the first observed difference is a shinier coat which is an indicator of increased overall general health followed by a decrease in anxiety, improved performance, increased stamina, hoof growth, muscle tone and an over all improvement in general health and condition.

Is Necessity safe for pregnant and lactating mares?

Necessity is safe to feed to pregnant and lactating mares. In fact, Necessity was formulated specifically to meet the nutritional requirements of pregnant and lactating mares as they require higher levels of nutrients. Providing these nutrients during pregnancy, helps ensure proper nutrition for the developing foal.

Necessity has a high level of Lysine. What is Lysine and how will it benefit my horse?

Lysine is an essential amino acid required for healthy growth, tissue repair, and strengthening immunity. It is one of the first limiting amino acids in the horse’s diet. The production of new proteins may be limited if the diet is Lysine deficient.

How did you get all of those ingredients into a liquid supplement?

Unlike most supplement companies, Loomix® Specialty Products Division makes Necessity in its own state of the art manufacturing facility. The patented techniques used to formulate Necessity were developed over (parent company) Cattleman's Choice Loomix, LLC’s 50 years of experience. Cattleman's Choice Loomix, LLC has developed the technology to suspend and blend multiple ingredients into a liquid formula. Loomix® Specialty Products Division uses these proven standards and precise blending techniques when manufacturing Necessity.

What makes Necessity different from other equine supplements?

There are several benefits that make the Necessity product line different from other supplements. One of the most important differences is that the Necessity products are available in a liquid and dry form. Research shows that liquid supplements are more easily absorbed than those administered in a dry form. Another difference is that Necessity products are all-in-one supplements. When using any of the Necessity products, you can eliminate 2, 3 or 4 daily supplements to just one. Necessity contains 21 essential vitamins, trace minerals and amino acids to help improve hair coat, muscle tone and hoof condition; enhance nutrient utilization, and protect body tissue from damage. Necessity is perfect for young horses that do not need the joint support. Necessity with Glucosamine has the same ingredients and benefits as Necessity in addition to glucosamine. This product is great for those horses that need joint support. Necessity also is available with Glucosamine and MSM. This product includes it all. 21 vitamins, trace minerals, amino acids, glucosamine and MSM, all in one product. The addition of MSM helps reduce swelling and aids in the repair and regeneration of damaged tissue, tendons and cartilage. Unlike most equine supplements, the Necessity product line provides balanced nutrition to enhance the condition of broodmares, stallions, growing horses, older horses and all types of performance horses.

How will I save money by using Necessity?

Most horse owners feed several different daily supplements to enhance condition and performance. By feeding any of the Necessity products, you eliminate the need to feed 2, 3 or even 4 different daily supplements. Feeding a Necessity product is economic for the horse owner due to the fact that several quality products are combined in one supplement. Also the effects of using Necessity helps to enhance overall body condition, aides in immune system and joint support, and helps to increase productivity of horses.

What are the benefits of a liquid supplement? Do I have to shake the bottle each time I use Necessity?

Research shows that liquid supplements are 98% more easily absorbed than those administered in a dry form. All Necessity products in the bottle do not require shaking. Feeding a liquid supplement avoids micro nutrient segregation, and if mixed into the feed can act as a binder to help alleviate dust. Necessity's palatability has also encouraged horses to stay on feed.

What is CellBlaster?

CellBlaster is a re-hydration electrolyte product that contains 26 beneficial ingredients, making it one of the most effective re-hydration products on the market. CellBlaster aids in maintaining low stress levels and increasing muscle definition to keep an overall fresh look. CellBlaster helps replace lost fluid and studies show it can hydrate better than water alone.

How do you feed CellBlaster?

Add CellBlaster to your horse’s water by thoroughly mixing 3 ounces (4 scoops) in approximately one half gallon of clean water and provide to the animal in a free choice or drench form. This product is safe for all horses of all ages.

What makes CellBlaster different from other products?

What makes CellBlaster different from all other electrolyte products is that it includes B-vitamins and amino acids. The amino acids included in the product are lysine and threonine. Amino acids help activate stomach enzymes aiding digestion and refurbishing the body’s cells which in turn enhances the animal’s appetite. B-vitamins play a key role as they help with the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. When these ingredients are combined into one product and supplemented as a top dress or into the animal’s water, it receives an instant boost to its system and body condition, not only keeping the animal hydrated, but on feed as well.

When should you use CellBlaster?

This product is valuable to use during times of stress (transportation, hot weather, etc.) as well as before and after a performance.

If water is not made available to the animal within two hours of their performance, you can simply top dress CellBlaster. Once you conclude your performance, you can add CellBlaster to the water. The electrolyte package in the product will help replace the electrolytes and minerals in sweat that may have been lost during the performance and help with the recovery process.

Can CellBlaster be used with Cellarator® Turbo paste?

Absolutely, CellBlaster can be used with Cellarator® Turbo paste. Cellarator® Turbo paste contains a high concentration of the Cellarator® active ingredients which have been proven to increase muscle mass and increase stamina. We recommend 20cc of Cellarator® Turbo paste two hours prior to a performance.

At the conclusion of a performance, you have two options. You can give 20 cc of Cellarator® Turbo paste and/or you can add CellBlaster in the water, if water is made available after the performance. Both products will help replace the sweat that was lost during performance and help with the recovery process.
